Compliance Without the Chaos: How AI-Powered Financial Aid Keeps You Audit-Ready.

Federal compliance doesn't wait for convenient timing. Pell recalculations. SOR For financial aid teams, staying compliant isn't a once-a-year exercise, it's a daily responsibility that carries real institutional risk. Yet most SIS platforms still treat compliance as a reporting function, not a built-in safeguard.
Student First was built differently. AI-driven compliance monitoring runs continuously in the background, flagging exceptions before they become findings and keeping your team ahead of regulatory changes, not scrambling to catch up.
Join us for a practical session on what proactive, AI-powered compliance looks like inside a purpose-built SIS.
What will you learn
In this session, you'll see how Student First Financial Aid transforms Title IV compliance from a reactive, spreadsheet-driven process into proactive, AI-assisted monitoring with human judgment preserved at every decision point. Built on an "AI-first, human-verified" philosophy, the platform automates the mechanical work of financial aid operations while surfacing compliance risks before they become audit findings.
Covers First Things First (FTF), Pell Enrollment Intensity (EI), Direct Loan Schedule of Reductions (SOR), and Disbursement Eligibility Rules Engine
- First Things First (FTF) - the AI-driven compliance dashboard that scans institutional data against Title IV rules and surfaces 21 actionable alerts across 13 categories, each with severity indicators and click-through navigation.
- Pell Enrollment Intensity (Pell EI) — How Student First computes enrollment intensity as a percentage of full-time enrollment (e.g., 9 of 12 credits = 75%). Participants will use the Pell EI form to detect students whose current intensity differs from the intensity used at packaging, adjust scheduled disbursements, and generate COD adjustment records — running this check before COD Export to avoid requesting funds the student no longer qualifies for.
- Direct Loan Schedule of Reductions (SOR) — new under OBBBA (effective July 1, 2026, for award year 2026-27 and later), Direct Loan awards must be recalculated against the SOR percentage using the credits a student is actually taking before disbursement requests go to COD.
- Disbursement Eligibility Rules Engine - which evaluates up to 17 configurable criteria before any disbursement is approved, with full audit trails on manual overrides
By the end, you will understand how automated compliance monitoring, exception feeds, enrollment-intensity recalculations, and AI reporting give financial aid staff time back while keeping the judgment calls — and the audit trails — firmly in human hands.
